Our world has changed completely recently. It has shrunk with the development of the internet and transportation. Everything and everyone became directly or indirectly available to anyone.
The only thing that is missing is the ability to not only reach others, but also to communicate with them. This tool is a common language. So let’s speak the same language! English has recently taken over the role of mediator in science, entertainment, sport and many other fields. It has the best chance of becoming in the near future a universal common language, accessible to everyone in the world. We want to help make this possible by ensuring that all our users acquire real, active language skills.
For three years, our team has been working on the development of a digital language learning tool that is an integral part of the Blended Learning Technique, one of the modern education systems of the future. This is a new teaching method that combines the latest technological innovations, such as a unique speech recognition and correction system, with traditional teaching elements. We did not want to develop a traditional application, but to create an educational platform where all the tools needed to learn and teach English can be found in one place. That’s how the GlobEng Digital English Education Platform was created, consisting of more than 10 standalone applications.
Today’s rapidly changing world has created a huge challenge for educational institutions. Young people need to be prepared for a world that is only just emerging. Therefore, the key is to provide students with a personalised, problem-solving and independent thinking experience, and to make education interesting and easy enough for young people to love it and be open and motivated to learn.
These new teaching methods, which already involve the teacher as a mentor, coordinator and facilitator in the personal development of students’ knowledge, help in this. School education is no longer about transferring information and testing. The learning of information takes place at home using digital learning materials and smart devices. In schools, problem recognition, understanding and problem solving are taught. Teachers provide support in validating information and pointing to higher contexts.
In view of this, we decided to convey the English language with a tool that tailors the learning process to each student using state-of-the-art technology and AI. Which helps to turn the acquired knowledge into truly usable English skills. To achieve this, we have been working for three years with nearly 50 people: language teachers, programmers, advertising specialists, managers, on a highly creative and innovative educational project. First, we created a complex acoustic model based on which we developed a unique speech recognition system. Therefore, the intelligent software analyses and evaluates the students’ pronunciation at the word level, broken down into phonemes, and at the sentence level, into words. This way anyone can learn to speak fluent and accurate English in a private environment without any inconvenience.
We have developed 5,000+ pages of learning material for the technology, consisting of nearly 2,500+ dialogues, 15,000+ words, a picture dictionary with 1,000+ words and 20,000+ exercises. The curriculum we have created is specifically designed to help you learn phrases and topics used in everyday life. The curriculum uses both official American and British English vocabulary, pronunciation, idioms and slang.
All of this is embedded in an app that not only arouses the user’s interest, but also keeps it alive with its diversity, variety, immediacy and playfulness. It is unputdownable. It allows teachers to get a more complete picture of their students’ progress and, as consultants and coordinators, can monitor and guide their students without much effort. They also have no more problem with individual assignments and evaluations.
The name of this educational model is Blended Learning. It is the next step in the evolution of education, which combines the potential of digital tools with traditional classroom teaching. In today’s digital world, this is the only form of education that has the potential to arouse the interest of students and compete with the wealth of information and services provided by electronic tools. Moreover, the Blended Learning method of education reduces the cost of training by 40-50% and allows the students to learn more efficiently and access up-to-date information more quickly.
